Fire Safety System Permits

Fire alarm systems

Permits - All new Fire Alarm Systems are required to have a permit prior to installation.

Contractor - System shall be installed by a State Certified Contractor.

Testing - Testing and maintenance on a Fire Alarm System shall be in compliance with the Florida Fire Prevention Code 7th ed. and references publications pertaining to the Fire Alarm paperwork submitted to the Brycer Compliance Engine prior to the building receiving a Certificate of Occupancy.

fire sprinkler/standpipe systems

Permits - All new Fire Sprinkler and Standpipe Systems are required to have a permit prior to installation.

Contractor - System shall be installed by a State Certified Fire Sprinkler Contractor.

Testing - Testing and maintenance on a Fire Sprinkler System shall be in compliance with the Florida Fire Prevention Code 7th ed. and references publications pertaining to the Fire Sprinkler paperwork submitted to the Brycer Compliance Engine prior to the building receiving a Certificate of Occupancy.

suppression systems

Permits - All new Fire Suppression Systems are required to have a permit prior to installation.

Contractor - System shall be installed by a State Certified Contractor.

Plans & Specifications - Shall be per NFPA 96. Prior to the extinguishing system being installed, a hood inspection shall be completed by either a light or smoke test. This will include all duct work and connection welds.

Extinguishing System - All extinguishing systems are required to have a separate permit application.

Testing - Full function trip test shall be performed on the extinguishing system prior to receiving a final inspection and paperwork submitted to the Brycer Compliance Engine prior to the building receiving a Certificate of Occupancy.

Extinguishers - Will depend on the type of operation in the kitchen:

Class K - Any cooking that gives of grease laden vapors.

40-BC - Food preparation and warming that does not release grease laden vapors.

fire hydrants

Where required, hydrants shall be installed per the City of DeLand's Land Development Code as well as per the currently adopted Florida Fire Prevention Code. Hydrants shall be tested prior to project receiving permission to build any structures.

fire pumps

Permits - All new Fire Alarm Systems are required to have a permit prior to installation.

Contractor - System shall be installed by a State Certified Contractor.

Plans & Specifications - Shall be submitted to and approved by the Fire Prevention Division via the Building Department's online permitting portal. Fire Pumps shall meet the requirements of NFPA 20.

Testing - A full function test shall be performed and witnessed by the Fire Prevention Division and paperwork submitted to the Brycer Compliance Engine prior to the building receiving a Certificate of Occupancy.

Per NFPA 20 - The Fire Pump shall be monitored by the Fire Alarm System.
