Planning Division
Duties & Responsibilities The Planning Division of the City of DeLand, Florida, is tasked with shaping and directing the city’s physical and socio‑economic growth through both long‑range and short‑range planning efforts. Key responsibilities include updating and maintaining the Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Regulations to reflect community goals, regulatory changes, and best practices. The Division leads the review process for all development proposals, ranging from site plans and zoning changes to subdivisions and special use permits to ensure they comply with the City's adopted policies and code. It also collaborates with other departments, advisory boards, and developers to coordinate land use, transportation, infrastructure, and environmental considerations. Additionally, the Division engages the public through workshops and outreach initiatives, providing information and gathering feedback to support transparent, informed decision‑making that strengthens DeLand’s character and long-term vision.
Notices 2025 Land Development regulations update The City is pleased to announce that Inspire Placemaking Collective, Inc. has been selected as the City's consultant for updating our Land Development Regulations (LDR), following a thorough evaluation of proposals submitted through the Request For Proposal (RFP) process.
The Land Development Regulations (LDR) update is actively underway and will overhaul, reformat, reorganize, and modernize the existing regulations. Anticipated adoption date is August 2026!
